Are Singaporean suppose to support a local production movie?
Usually when people are considering which movie to watch, typical choice will be those American or English movies . As for Asia countries selection, Hong Kong, Japan and Korean would be the top few choices, so sometimes we will be wondering when Singapore production will have a good stand in this industry and being recognize by people all over the world.
Anyway back to the main topic, this time the movie that I'm going to introduce is call '881'. It is a very own Singapore style of movie which talks 'Getai' (A special local performance event that can only be seen during the Lunar 7th Month).
The story line is quite plain in the sense that there's nothing very special during the show and no surprise scenario. However the comedy impact is great and the actors are really good and natural in their acting. Most of the actors might not be some well-known celebrities but in my point of view, they have done quite a good job for this movie. I have a high expectation for visual effect if there's any and usually I never look for quality visual in a local production. It's still a no exception this time but I must admit that there's a improvement seen this time and I hope that in future they will continue to work on it and produce something even better than ever.
Seriously saying, if you belongs to those group of people who doesn't like anything non-realistic or with too much comedy content, just skip this show and maybe go watch 'Rush Hour 3', it will be more than nothing but just a waste of money and time.
If not, grab a ticket and enjoy yourself during the show, it can be either too lame or too funny but at the end of the day, you have already shown a great appreciation to a local production. '881' has already broke a good result over the week, so go down to the nearest cinema and catch the movie, you might love it!
